I enjoy my time at the University so much, though it is very hard work for me. The most important advice I could give to you is that try hard to study well. If your academic results are good, you will be awarded with high salaries and high chance for promotion.
I sent the application with my high school results to the Unversity along with a bank cheque of $50 for the application fee. I got a letter a few weeks later informing me of the date that I had to take a test in my city. I borrowed some course notes from my friends who studied overseas. I revised a number of times before I actually did the test. I was offered the place for admission in March. The uni then looked at my results and they asked me to come for an interview held in HCM city. Luckily I was offered a scholarship. It was a great time for me.
My scholarship is offered to ASEAN students who will recieve tuition and a living allowance of $5,400. It is not enough but it supported my studies by then. All the information regarding the scholarship is on the Unviversity's website.
The University is a great educational institution. I spent about 40 hours to study each week. It is very intensive course. The lecturers and tutors were very helpful, and they tried their best to support us. I received all kinds of support that I needed. The course is very value for money, though I did not pay any money for the studies, except my personal spending. But mind you, you need to work very hard in order to get in and to keep the scholarship.
NTU is a bit far from the city centre. But Singapore is a very small city, so it does not matter. The people are very friendly and the laws are extremely strict. Accommodation is very good and cheap as I stayed in the University funded hostel. I shared a room with an Indonesian roommate, who is a very nice guy. It has been very easy to find part time work, but as students, we all needed to study, so I just did part time during holidays.
I finished my degree, and now I am working as a software engineer. My workmates are very friendly and most of us are NTU graduates.
